Blackberry – Black Currant Balsamic Sauceblackberry-black currant balsamic sauce

The balsamic vinegar in this sauce makes an otherwise ordinary berry sauce nearly addicting. We serve it over ice cream with mangoes, pound cake, waffles and just about anything you want a fruity sauce for.
1 cup
¼ cup
2 cups
1 tbs
  fresh lemon juice
1 tbs
black currant balsamic
In a heavy saucepan melt sugar, stirring often until it is a golden caramel. Carefully stir in water, blackberries, lemon juice, and black currant balsamic. Again stir constantly over moderately low heat until well combined and caramel is dissolved. Strain sauce through a fine sieve pressing hard on solids. Chill sauce, covered.
